Overview
Modular Type
This project aimed to explore modular type design, creating letters using parts of other letters to convey a specific emotion. For this font, I focused on communicating the feeling of being “elated.” Each letter in Howdy Honey was crafted to reflect this joy and excitement.
A fun and innovative addition to the project was using a 3D printer to create physical letter blocks for letterpress printing. This hands-on approach allowed us to bring the modular alphabet to life. The alphabet, including a few common duplicates, took around 16 hours to print, resulting in a unique and versatile set of type blocks.
Howdy Honey combines traditional typographic techniques with modern technology to create a visually engaging and emotionally resonant font, perfect for adding a touch of whimsy to any country festivity.
